Turkish Airlines or officially known as Türk Hava Yolları Anonim Ortaklığı, the national airline of Turkey was established in 1933. The airline offers flights to 271 destinations in 5 continents including Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, and South America with 340 aircrafts in its fleet. Business Class

Economy Class

If you are travelling in Economy Class then your seating arrangement will depend on whether it is a short or long-haul flight. The economy seats can recline up to 15 cm with adjustable headrests and legroom up to 79 cm for comfortable journey. On long-haul flights, you can also enjoy an inflight entertainment system featuring multiple options of music, live T.V shows, movies. Every seat in Turkish Economy class is equipped with power outlets for all time convenience. Passengers in Turkish Airlines Economy Class can also enjoy an opulent inflight meal service from Turkey and world cuisines. Turkish Airlines Baggage Allowance

Turkish Airlines Baggage policy offers a generous baggage allowance which enables passengers to travel with plenty of baggage. However, there are certain regulations on baggage allowance for passengers.

Carry-on Baggage

All passengers are allowed to take carry-on baggage depending on their cabin class and fare type. 

• Economy passengers can carry one piece of carry-on baggage weighing 8 kg with dimensions of 23 x 40 x 55 cm in size along with one personal baggage in 40 x 30 x 15 cm as per Turkish Airlines baggage policy. The weight of the personal baggage should not exceed beyond 4 kg. There are certain additional restrictions that depend on the fare types such as Economy Ecofly, Economy Extra Fly, Economy PrimeFly and Promotional fare purchased by the customer. 
• Business Class passengers can carry two carry-on baggage weighing up to 8 kg each (total 16 kg) with maximum dimensions of 23 x 40 x 55 cm along with one personal baggage per personal weighing not more than 4 kg with dimensions 40 x 30 x 15 cm. On both international and domestic flights, Business and Economy passengers can carry one piece of infant bag weighing 8 kg.

Checked Baggage

Irrespective of cabin class, both business and economy class have checked baggage allowance on Turkish Airlines flights unlike most airlines.      

• As per  baggage allowance, Economy Class passengers can carry one piece of checked baggage with a total dimension of 158 cm including wheels and handles and weighing 23 kg. However, the weight of the free checked baggage depends on the fare type purchased. Eco fly passengers can carry 15 kg of checked baggage only while ExtraFly can carry 20 kg of baggage. Prime Extra passengers are eligible to carry 25 kg of checked baggage. Passengers should not exceed the given baggage measurements or they will have to pay additional overweight or oversized fees. 
• The Ecofly package does not include checked baggage for flights to/from Europe or Tel Aviv or Turkey. 
• As per Turkish Airlines baggage allowance policy, Business Class passengers can carry two pieces of checked baggage weighing 32 kg each with total dimensions of 158 cm including wheels and handles.

Turkish Airlines Check in

Turkish Airlines check in policy ensures to provide customers the flexibility to check-in as per their convenience. There are several ways to check-in for Turkish flights. One of them is  online check-in which allows customers to save time and energy rather than towing heavy baggage across the airport. The airline advises the passengers to reach on time to avoid any last minute hassle at the airport. 

• The online web and mobile check-in starts 24 hours and ends 90 minutes before the scheduled departure of the flight as per Turkish Airlines check-in policy. 
• Travellers can also check-in at the airport and still avoid the long queues at the check-in counter. You can opt for a self- service kiosk check-in that opens 12 hours before the flight for check-in and closes 60 minutes before the flight is airborne. 
• For domestic flights, check-in at the airport starts 2 hours before the departure of the flight and closes 45 minutes before the flight is airborne.
• For international flights, passengers can check-in at the airport 2 hours before the flight departure. 
• Up to 8 passengers can check-in online under the same group booking ID through the website.
• Passengers can select their seats, pre-book meals and add more facilities online.

Turkish Airlines Cancellation and Refund Policy

Turkish Airlines cancellation policy allows passengers to have flexibility while travelling. However, there are few regulations that passengers should abide by in case of cancellation to receive refunds. 

• Passengers can cancel the ticket and claim only if the ticket has been purchased from the official channels of the airlines. 
• Refunds and cancellations are subject to fare types, the airlines advises passengers to check the fare rules before booking. 
• As per Turkish Airlines refund policy, refunds are only applicable on refundable tickets. 
• If a passenger cancels a non-refundable ticket then only the tax component will be refunded. Also, in non-refundable tickets, passengers have to pay an additional Turkish Airlines cancellation fee.
• Some reservations are not permitted for cancellation and in that case, passengers can change their itinerary. The airline offers future travel credit, promotional fares, free gifted vouchers etc. 
• The airline does not allow passengers to cancel their booking if they have booked pet services. 
• In case of voluntary flight cancellation by the airline, passengers are entitled for refund if the passenger refuses to take the alternate flight provided by the airline.

Turkish Airlines Cancellation Fee

The airline can charge cancellation fees in case passengers want to cancel their bookings. However, the cancellation fees depend on various factors like type of ticket, reversal timing, time left between the departure and cancellation and destination of Turkish flight.

• In case a passenger fails to cancel their flight within the risk-free 24 hours, then the passenger has to pay cancellation fee.
• Restricted fare travellers have to pay $400 as Turkish Airlines ticket cancellation charges.
• The airlines can take 40% of the value of the Turkish Airlines booking in case the reservation has been cancelled between one to twelves hours before the flight departure. 
• If a passenger cancelled the Turkish flight 12 hours before the scheduled flight departure then the airline will charge 20 % of the value of the ticket.

Turkish Airlines Refund Policy

The airline provides a flexible and generous refund policy to customers in case of cancellation. 

• As per Turkish Airlines cancellation policy, passengers can get full refund only if they cancel their reservation within 24 of booking given that the booking has been made 7 days prior to scheduled departure. 
• According to the airline’s refund policy, if the payment has been done via credit card then the airline will credit the refund within 7 working days. 
• The airline usually credits the refund through the same payment method through which the ticket was purchased.

• The passenger can claim a travel voucher under the same currency of the purchased Turkish Airlines ticket.
