Spirit Airlines is known as the seventh largest passenger airline in North America, the Caribbeans and Mexico. This ultra low-cost airline is headquartered in Florida. Spirit Airlines Facilities

Being a low-cost carrier, Spirit Airline ensures to keep the fare low by only providing you the seats. Other facilities like seat selection, carry-on baggage, checked-in baggage and inflight snacks will cost you extra. Being a low-cost airline, it does not offer First Class or even Business Class service on flights. Though, you can still experience comfort at nominal price. Spirit only offers two fare types : the standard seats and Big Front seats.

Standard Fare type

This fare type offers the most economical price in North America. In this Spirit ticket fare, passengers are entitled to carry one free personal baggage like a laptop bag or handbag. The standard economy seats have 28 inches of seat pitch while most airlines have 30 inches of seat pitch. Passengers who are booking in Standard fare are not eligible for seat selection instead the airline will randomly assign you during the check-in.

Big Front Seats

Those passengers who want to experience more comfort through the flight, can book the Big Front Seat that is present at the front of the aircraft. These seats do not have middle seats, thus come with more space and legroom. However, the Big Front Seats also restricted baggages rule (one free personal baggage). In this fare of Spirit flight, the seats have 36 inches of seat pitch and 18.5 width of  premium leather. The Big Front Seat also gives you the benefit to choose your seat in the flight.

Spirit Airlines Baggage Allowance

The airline’s baggage policy offers an essential baggage allowance which enables passengers to travel with only one personal baggage. However, there are certain regulations on baggage allowance for passengers. The airline charges for both carry-on and checked baggage to keep the price of ticket low. 

• All passengers travelling can carry a personal bag with dimensions that must not exceed 18 x 14 x 8 inches including wheels and handles as per Spirit Airlines baggage policy. 
• Passengers with carry-on baggage must carry bags with dimensions 22 x 18 x 10 inches (56 x 46 x 25 cm) including wheels and handles.  
• Passengers with checked baggage should ensure that their bags follow the total dimension of 158 cm including handles and wheels. The maximum weight for the checked baggage is 18 kg (40 pounds). 
• Any bag that exceeds the permitted measurements will be considered overweight and oversized for which the passengers will have to pay Spirit Airlines baggage fees.

Spirit Airlines Check-in Policy

The check in policy ensures to provide customers the flexibility to check-in as per their convenience. There are several ways to check-in on Spirit flight for the convenience of the passengers.  One of them is  online check-in which allows customers to save their time and energy. The airline advises the passengers to reach on time to avoid any last minute hassle at the airport. 

• Spirit Airlines online check-in is available for all passengers irrespective of their fare type or class of service. 
• The online check-in starts 24 hours prior to scheduled departure time. 
• Online check-in is only available for booking with no more than 9 passengers in the same PNR. 
• Online check-in is also available for itinerary containing no more than four flight segments. 
• Passengers who have requested for special services are not allowed to check-in online for Spirit Airlines flights, thus they have to check-in directly at the counter. 
• Spirit curbside check-in starts 4 hours and closes 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the flight. 
• Passengers can check their Spirit Airlines flight status to know the exact flight location and timing before departure.

Spirit Airlines Cancellation and Refund Policy

Spirit Airlines cancellation policy allows passengers to have flexibility while travelling. However, there are few regulations that passengers should abide by in case of cancellation to receive refunds. 

• Spirit Airlines offers 24 hours free cancellation which allows passengers to cancel their flight within 24 hours of making the reservation to get a full refund. However, the reservation should have the departure date booked at least 7 days in advance. 
• According to the cancellation policy, passengers are eligible to receive a full refund in case of a delay of more than 2 hours. 
• As per cancellation policy, flights that are bound to be rescheduled can be cancelled by the passengers to receive full refund. 
• In case of any bereavement of passengers’ immediate family, theft of passport, government order or illness, the airline will not charge any Spirit Airlines cancellation fee. 
• Passengers who have issues with refunds can contact the airlines on Spirit Airlines phone number. 
• If the flight is cancelled involuntarily due to reasons such as bad weather, technical issues, government orders, ATC clearance, then passengers will either receive an alternate flight or full refund against their original booking.

Spirit Airlines Cancellation Fee

The cancellation fee depends on the fare type purchased by the passengers. The cancellation fee is divided into three segments : Standard, Flex and Award tickets. 

Cancellation Fee for Standard Ticket

• The airline will not charge any cancellation fee on reservations that are cancelled on the same day as booking.
• However, after the end of the 24 hours risk period, passengers will have to pay a Spirit cancellation fee of 90 USD. 
• As per Spirit Airline cancellation policy, the airlines will refund the value of the ticket in the form of a future credit coupon

Cancellation Fee for the Flex Ticket

• If a passenger prefers to cancel their flex ticket via online method then a cancellation fee of 90 USD will be applicable. 
• For cancellation of Flex ticket via offline method, the cancellation fee of 100 USD will be applicable. 
• However, passengers can opt for flight change in case of emergency which costs nothing in Flex fare.

Cancellation Fee for Award Flights

• Passengers travelling on an Award flight need not to pay any cancellation fee if they cancel the booking within 24 hours of reserving it. 
• Outside the risk-free period, the airline will charge 110 USD as Spirit flight cancellation fee. 
• After cancellation, the value of the ticket will be credited back to the original account.

Spirit Airlines Refund Policy

As per the refund policy, the airlines only allots full refunds if the ticket has been cancelled within 24 hours of purchase and with departure date at least 7 days ahead. 

• Usually, the airline takes around 7 business days to refund if the ticket is purchased by credit card. Other than that, it usually takes 20 business days if the ticket has been purchased by other methods such as cash. 
• Passengers don’t have to pay any cancellation fee If the airline voluntarily cancels the flight due to internal issues. 
• Spirit Airlines can waive cancellation fees if there is a death in a passenger’s family.
