Basic Economy

• Mentioned as Main Cabin in Delta Airlines tickets, the Basic Economy seats are economical but have certain restrictions.

Delta Airlines Check-in Policy

The airline has some strict rules when it comes to Delta flight check-in timing thus passengers are advised to complete Delta flight check-in at appropriate time to avoid last minute hassle. 

• Delta Airlines recommends passengers to reach the airport at least 4 hours and check-in at least 60 minutes before the scheduled departure. 
• For domestic flights, passengers should check-in at least 60 minutes and reach 2 hours before the scheduled departure. 
• The check-in for international flights starts from 24 hours to 1 hour before departure. 
• The check-in for domestic flights starts from 24 hours to 30 minutes before departure.

Online Check-in Time

For online check-in, you can opt for web check-in through the official website of the airlines or you can download the mobile app.  For International flights, Delta Airlines check in starts 24 hours before departure and closes 60 minutes before scheduled departure while for domestic flights, check-in starts 24 hours before the departure and closes 30 minutes before departure.

Mobile Check-in Time

For mobile check-in, you have to download the official mobile app. The mobile check-in time also starts 24 hours before the scheduled departure. You can print your boarding pass or get an eBoarding pass on the mobile app itself. The Delta Airlines customer service is quite helpful when you want to check in for your flight.

Airport Kiosk Check-in

Those who want to check-in at the airport can do so, however, they have to reach the airport at least 2-3 hours before the flight departs. You simply have to find a self-service kiosk at the airport. Insert your Delta Airlines flight reservation number or SkyMiles number, add checked baggage and confirm check-in to receive boarding pass digitally.

Airport Check-in Desk

Reach the airport at least 2-3 hours before the flight departs. The airport check-in starts 3 hours before the scheduled flight departure. The airline advises passengers to complete the check-in formalities before the deadline. You can also check-in your baggage at the counter without wasting time.

Airport Curbside Check-in

If you prefer to check-in as soon as you reach the airport, then you can opt for Airport Curbside check-in. You can check-in simply by inserting your reservation number and last name. The curbside check-in can also be used to submit checked baggage. However, if your bags are overweight then you have to submit those at the Delta Airlines counter.

What are the Exceptions to Web Check-in

There are certain restrictions when it comes to web check-in that passengers must follow to avoid any last minute hassle. 

• Passengers with unconfirmed booking reservations have to check-in directly at the airport. 
• Passengers with unaccompanied minors cannot check-in online. 
• The online check-in facility is not available at airports outside the US. 
• Passengers with special needs have to check-in directly at the Delta Airlines check in counter. 
• Passengers travelling with pets have to check-in at the airport counter.

Delta Airlines Baggage Allowance

The baggage allowance depends on the fare type purchased by the passenger. Each passenger flying on Delta Airlines flight can carry 1 personal item and 1 carry-on without any extra charge. The prescribed total dimensions of the carry-on baggage are 114 cm with weight not more than 10 kg. As per Delta Airlines baggage policy, Basic Economy passengers cannot carry checked baggage unless purchased. Those travelling in Premium Economy, First Class, Delta Premium Select and Delta One can carry checked baggage with a total dimension of 159 cm (62 inches) with maximum weight of 23 kg. However, if passengers surpass the applicable baggage allowance then they will have to pay Delta Airlines baggage fees depending upon the cabin classes.

Delta Airlines Cancellation and Refund Policy

The airline allows its customers to cancel their flight ticket under the 24 hours cancellation policy. 

• Delta Cancellation policy states that every ticket (except the basic economy) can be cancelled without cancellation fee. 
• Delta Airlines refundable tickets are eligible for cancellation and refund.  
• Basic economy passengers are reliable enough to pay $99 for cancelling the ticket. 
• In case of non-refundable tickets, the cancellation fee will be deducted from the cost of the flight while the remaining amount will be credited to the passenger’s account as E-credit for future purchase.
• Non-refundable tickets are not eligible for cash refund, rather t 
• In case of refundable tickets, the passenger can cancel the ticket before departure and request a refund.
• Booking made from a third party website, passengers must contact the third party for cancellation and refunds.

Delta Airlines Refund Policy

The airline offers a flexible and comprehensive refund policy that ensures that passengers receive an adequate amount or refund with respect to their issues in no time. Usually, the airline takes 7-20 business days to get a credit refund depending on the methods of payments. 

• Delta Flight 24 hours Cancellation Policy 
  This policy ensures passengers receive a full refund if they cancel their booking within 24 hours of making it. Also, the booking should have the scheduled departure at least 7 days after purchase of the ticket. 

• Delta Free Cancellation
  Passengers travelling in Basic Economy are not eligible to cancel their booking free of cost unless cancelled within 24 hours of confirming it as per Delta Airlines cancellation policy. 

• Region-Specific Delta Refund Policy 
  Different policies and regulations are applied on the flight ticket depending upon the passengers billing address. Locations that have specific policies include the Middle East, Colombia, Argentina, South Korea and Taiwan. 

• Refunds request for Eligible Fare
  Not every fare is eligible for refund as Delta usually has non-refundable tickets that are not eligible for voluntary refund. However, passengers travelling in specific cabin classes like Delta One, Premium Select and First class are eligible to receive refunds by default. You can also request a refund via the Delta Airline customer service. 

• Delta Refund Processing Time
  As per Delta Airlines cancellation policy, refunds for the flights made with credit cards are processed within 7 business days while reservations booked through cash are refunded within 20 business days. As per Delta Airlines flights booking, all refunds are credited back to their original payment method.
